6,26 m Armand Duplantis

On Saturday, 25th of August 2024 in Chorzów during Diamond League meeting, Armand Duplantis with a result of 6.26 m set - for the 10th time in a row! - the world record in the pole vault event.

Another world record was broken by Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who ran 3000 m in 7.17.55.

Another world record is written in the history of the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial - in 2016 Anita Włodarczyk set a current record in the hammer throw - 82.98 m.
 
Going back to Sunday's excellent results, it should be mentioned that Armand Duplantis this year has already improved the world record for the third time. He scored 6.25 at the Paris Olympics and 6.24 in Xiamen on April the 20th. The Swede has already the top 10 scores in history - from 6.17 to 6.26.
 
In the 3000 m race event, the previous world record since 1996 was held by Kenyan Daniel Komen with 7,20.67. In Chorzów, three Ethiopians finished right after Norway. The second Berihu Aregawi improved the country's record to 7.21.28. The third was Yomif Kejelcha (7.28.44), and the fourth was Telahun Haile Bekele (7.30.97). The pace of the run was set by Filip Rak.
 
Natalia Kaczmarek with the time of 49,95 took the third place in the 400 m race. The Polish record was beaten by Marileid Paulino from the Dominican Republic (48.66) and Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser (49.23). These three runners were in the same order in the Paris Olympics, where Kaczmarek won a bronze medal. The fourth in Chorzów was Rhasidat Adeleke from Ireland (50,00).
 
Ewa Swoboda with 11.03 in the 100 m race, took the sixth place. Jamaica Tia Clayton (10.83), Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith from Ivory Coast (10.83) and American Tamari Davis (10.84) finished under 11 seconds. The Polish was also overtaken by the British Daryll Neita (11.01) and Patrizia van der Weken from Luxembourg (11.03).
 
Klaudia Kazimierska in the 1500 m improved the personal record of 3.59.95 and took sixth place. The fastest at this distance were Ethiopians Diribe Welteji (3.57.08) and Freweyni Hailu (3.57.88).
 
Shot Put event was won by American Joe Kovacs with the score of 22.15. By only two centimetres, he beat his compatriot Ryan Crouser - world record holder and Olympic champion. The third was European champion Leonardo Fabbri from Italy - 22.03. Konrad Bukowiecki put 19.88 and took 11th place. Michael Haratyk had no measurable attempt.
 
The winner of the 200m was the Olympic champion Letsile Tym from Botswana (19.83). The second Alexander Ogando set a Dominican record (19.86). He was followed by three Americans: Kenneth Bednarek, Erriyon Knighton and Kyree King. Running on the first track, Albert Komański obtained his ninth time - 21.07.
 
European record holder Femke Bol with the time of 52.13 won the 400m hurdle race. The Dutch woman overtook American Anna Cockrell (52.88), third place went to Jamaj Rushell Clayton (53.11) from Jamaica.
The men's competition was won by Karsten Warholm from Norway. The Olympic runner-up won 46.95. The second place was taken by Frenchman Clement Ducos, who improved the personal best of 47.42. Abderrahman Samba of Qatar was third with 47.69.
 
None of the Polish representatives made it to the final of the 100-metre hurdle race, in which nine athletes took part in. Pia Skrzyszowska had a 10th result - 12.58. Klaudia Wojtunik was ranked 13th of 13.02, and Marika Majewska scored 14th - 13.15.
 
In the final of 100m, Jamaica's Akcera Nugent improved the meeting record with 12.29.
 
Wojciech Nowicki took the third place, and Paweł Fajdek the fifth in the competition in a hammer throw event. Olympic champion Ethan Katzberg from Canada won, who threw 80.03. The other was the Ukrainian Mykhailo Kochan with a score of 79.85. Nowicki sent a hammer to a distance of 76.05. The same result was given by the Hungarian Bence Halasz. Fajdek had only two measurable attempts and ended the competition with a result of 74.53.
