– Spectators came back to stands, and I came back to sport – Anita Włodarczyk, who in a wonderful style won hammer throw event during 3rd Irena Szewińska Memorial in Bydgoszcz, said. Paweł Fajdek, who beat meeting's record with the score of 82,77 m, is also in a great form.
The best score, this year in the world in 400 m women run was scored by Christine Mboma.
We have our contribution in these record scores: great hammer results were achieved with Polanik hammers and not only hammers because the whole stadium was fully equipped with our equipment, and we supported the organization of Irena Szewińska Memorial for the third time. We like helping to win :)
Anita with her Pink Hammer threw 77,93 m and she showed that she is all about fighting for the third Olympic gold in Tokyo. Polish women dominated the hammer event – Włodarczyk was the first, second place was taken by Malwina Kopron with the result only 2,5 m weaker than the most titled Polish athlete of the 21st century.
– Two years ago I had a very serious surgery and the fact that I would come back to sport was not certain and especially to the top level. I am glad I am back, and I got great result in Bydgoszcz during Irena Szewińska Memorial. Just like 11 years ago I left Bydgoszcz happy, I leave it today as happy as back then. – she added. 11 years ago, Anita Włodarczyk beat her own World record.
In her opinion in Tokyo she is capable of throwing 77 metres. – I have huge experience when it comes to Olympic Games, and I hope that I will remain pre-olympic calm, and I will leave for Tokyo healthy and full of fighting energy – she said.
Kopron, who until Wednesday had had the best result in women hammer throw event, was throwing evenly. At last, she took second place with the result of 75,41. – I am aware of the fact that competitions are won with the farthest throw, not series. I still need some time to launch myself. I am thinking about the technique and I am working on it. My biggest mistake is that I don't relax my shoulders during third and fourth turn. These are not bad results, but competitions are won with the farthest one. I am aware of that and I come back to Spała to work – she said.
In men hammer throw event, Paweł Fajdek after first series was the third, and after second one, he was in the lead. In the third series he improved his result and with the score of 82,77 thrown with Ziolkowski Hammer Black he beat the meeting record. – I am happy. I started too fast, I cared too much so next trials weren't successful. I have to prepare myself for 110 percent because in Japan it may be needed – Fajdek said.
Four-time champion underlined that the most important thing for him, is to stay healthy until the Olympic Games. – If health is right, my results are good. In scores terms it looks nice because this meeting is the next competition with very good result. I has been very long since I threw like that, so I am very happy – he added.
Wojciech Nowicki fought for the second place until the end. In the last throw, he scored 80 metres and surpassed Myhaylo Kokhan from Ukraine. – I start from the full training. Yesterday I had a tough gym training so I didn't expect to throw that far. The last month is usually devoted to Olympic Games preparations and the rest is set aside. I will not change anything. I will focus on not losing anything. I hope that Paweł and I will stand on the podium because it will be a great result – InPost Team competitior said.
Incredible score was accomplished by Christine Mboma. She won with the best result this year in the world surpassing by almost 3,5 seconds Justyna Święty-Ersetic. It's the seventh result in the history of athletics on such a distance.
– I knew that she is out of my reach but I am sad about watching her from that distance. I did not expect this result. When it comes to me, everything is on the right path. It is sure that I am very fast, but I lack endurace that was taken by COVID-19. I believe that I will work the upcoming weeks and it will be all good during Olympic Games – Święty-Ersetic said.
The third place with the best score in this season – 5,82 m – was taken by Piotr Lisek in pole vault event.
– One can see that the form is at it's best. You have to remember that it is very high and the stakes in our event are big. This start gave me faith in spectators. I hope that we delivered emotions everybody requested – the best Polish pole vaulter commented. The USA Champion Chris Nilsen won with the result 10 centimetres higher than Lisek.
Amongst Polish competitiors, hurdle runners were the only ones who got to the podium – Klaudia Siciarz was the second in 100 m run, and Damian Czykier took third place in 110 m run. – In Tokyo you will see me in a new version. Right now, the first part of the distance is awesome but the second needs some tweaks – Czykier said.
3rd Irena Szewińska Memorial took place a day after the death anniversary of the finest Polish sportswomen Irena Szewińska. The competition were awarded to Gold zone for the first time.
